Harbor Funds Announces Launch of Harbor Small Cap Growth Opportunities Fund
February 03, 2014

Chicago, Illinois – Harbor Funds today announced the addition of Harbor Small Cap Growth Opportunities Fund to its lineup of no-load mutual funds. The new fund, which commences operations today, is managed by Elk Creek Partners, LLC.

The investment goal of Harbor Small Cap Growth Opportunities Fund is to seek long-term growth of capital. Under normal market conditions, the Fund invests in approximately 80-100 companies with at least 80% of its net assets in a diversified portfolio of equity securities of small cap companies. The Fund will be managed by Cam Philpott, Lance Marx, David Hand, Hiren Patel and Sean McGinnis, each a Portfolio Manager and Principal of Elk Creek Partners, who have co-managed a small cap growth strategy since founding the firm in 2011. Prior to founding Elk Creek Partners, Messrs. Philpott, Marx, Hand, Patel and McGinnis managed small cap equity strategies together at another investment firm. Four of the Fund's portfolio managers have worked together for more than decade.

"We are excited to partner with Elk Creek Partners to add this small cap growth fund to the Harbor Funds lineup," said David G. Van Hooser, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Harbor Capital Advisors. "The team at Elk Creek Partners has substantial experience investing in small cap growth equities, making them well suited to subadvise this new fund."

There is no guarantee that the investment objective of the Fund will be achieved. Stocks fluctuate in price and the value of your investment in the Fund may go down. The Fund's performance may be more volatile because it invests primarily in small cap stocks. Over time, a growth oriented investing style may go in and out of favor, which may cause the Fund to underperform other equity funds that use different investing styles. Other risks also apply; these are discussed in the Fund's prospectus.

The Harbor Funds lineup of actively managed, no-load mutual funds had combined net assets of $84 billion as of December 31, 2013. Each Harbor fund is managed by an institutional investment firm selected by Harbor Capital Advisors, Inc. based on the firm's experience in a specific asset class. Other fees and expenses apply to a continued investment in Harbor Funds and are described in each fund's current prospectus.
